Worshippers can visit the temple for Ryo Mairi to perform both En-musubi and En-kiri prayers in order to bring about a fortunate relationship.
At Saijo Inari, Buddhist prayers for En-kiri and En-musubi are performed together. This is because the deities of both bad relationships and good relationships have been associated with En-no-Massha, one of the 77 Massha (subordinate temples at Saijo Inari), since the Edo Period. It is said that praying to multiple deities allows for even greater divine favor as the deities will join forces. Praying to other deities such as those of beauty, popularity, and charm allows an even better relationship to be brought about.

En-musubi prayers?
Although En-musubi and En-kiri are contradictory prayers, it is important to first cleanly sever all potentially obstructive relationships in order to create a long-lasting relationship.
In order to attract new possibilities by breaking free of stagnant relationships that don’t seem to be working out, we recommend that both En-kiri and En-musubi prayers be performed. This combination is referred to as Ryo Mairi.
En-kiri prayers seem rather harsh.
En-kiri does not bring about misfortune to the other party. For example, even with relationships that may be undesirable, one should be grateful for the growth that the relationship has provided, and severing the relationship may lead to other opportunities.
As a means of turning over a new leaf and both parties taking the first steps in a new direction, it is important to pray with a positive frame of mind.
Can En-musubi prayers be meant for business relationships?
Humans are tied together through various relationships—not only personal relationships between men and women, family, and friends, but also relationships through work and school. Visiting the temple before starting a new job or before beginning studies is believed to provide better outcomes.

Since the Edo Period, Saishoi Ribetsu Tenno (Deity of Separation) has been worshipped as one of the deities of the 77 Masha. Since ancient times, this deity has been popularly regarded as a guardian against unfortunate relationships not only between people but also with illness, bad habits, and other evils.
Worshipping order for En-kiri prayers
Saishoi Ribetsu Tenno (Deity of Separation) is enshrined to the left when facing the reception counter.
After passing through the front torii and praying in the proper order, be sure to perform the En-musubi prayer before exiting through the white torii.
How to perform En-kiri prayers
Purchase an En-kiri prayer token from the reception counter shown on the left with black square.
Write in your wish regarding the unfortunate relationship you would like to sever.
Pray to Saishoi Ribetsu Tenno.
Ask Ribetsu Tenno to separate you from any undesirable relationships.
Walk to the En-kiri Nade Ishi (Stone of Severed Relationships).
Stand before the stone with both hands holding your En-kiri prayer token and then walk around the stone once clockwise while praying away the unfortunate relationship. After walking once around the stone, split the En-kiri prayer token in two, hold the prayer token pieces in your left hand, and rub the stone with your right hand while making your wish.
Place your En-kiri prayer token with the others.
Please place your prayer token in one of the your offered En-kiri prayer token will be burned in a prayer ritual.
After severing the unfortunate relationship, you may pray for the creation of a good relationship.
Pray to Saishoi En-biki Tenno (Deity of Forged Relationships).
Break free of unfortunate relationships and pull together fortunate relationships through Ryo Mairi combining both En-kiri and En-musubi.

Write your wish on the ema to create a fortunate relationship.
Sever any unfortunate relationships before creating a good relationship.
Pray to Saishoi Ribetsu Tenno.
First, pray to Saishoi Ribetsu Tenno in order to sever any unfortunate relationships you are currently involved in.
Pray to Saishoi En-biki Tenno.
To attract good fortune regarding relationships, pray to Saishoi En-biki Tenno to find a fortunate match, to forge a strong relationship, and to find ever-lasting love.
Visit the Ryo-en Nade Ishi (Stone of Fortunate Relationships)
Stand before the stone with both hands holding your En-musubi ema, and then walk around the stone once clockwise while praying away the consummating fortunate relationships. After walking once around the stone, hold the ema in your right hand, and rub the stone with your left hand while making your wish.
Place your En-musubi ema with the others. Please place one of the stickers available at the reception counter over your written wish.
